Oriel, the Cheltenham-based provider of business finance and back office services have adopted LINC as its charity and aim to help them reach their goal of £400,000 towards refurbishing and extending the Edward Jenner Unit in Gloucester Royal Hospital. Once the unit is operational, it will allow for an extra 7 chemotherapy chairs, which currently is given at Cheltenham General Hospital.
Oriel has chosen LINC as one of their employee's, Laura Bartlett, recently lost her mother Julie to leukaemia. Julie was a LINC patient and spent some time in Rendcomb ward at Cheltenham General Hospital.
Laura says "My mum stayed in an isolation room on Rendcomb ward, the newly refurbished family room that was funded by LINC gave a welcome haven for her visitors when she needed time to rest and receive treatment. The isolation rooms were equipped with televisions and DVD players which really did make her stay more comfortable and allowed her to maintain a sense of normality during her stay. My experience of LINC has driven me to encourage my friends and colleagues to support such a worthy charity."
