We are also keen to see more young people consider careers in financial services and so we are partnering with not-for-profit Growing Ambitions to encourage career speaking volunteering. We are urging our employees and clients to volunteer a half-an-hour talk about their job and career - whatever they are - to young people near where they live or work.
Careers advisers are often under-resourced and need the input from the world of work. Their young people need information to help them make informed career choices.
Whether you are a member of our staff, a customer or a visitor to our site, you can sign up - it takes just a few minutes - through the Oriel Volunteering Portal. Speak just once if you want to, and then opt out. Over 800 career types are catered for on the website.
Four steps
1 Register to Speak - it takes a few minutes to complete a screen at the Oriel Volunteering Portal
2 Wait to be contacted by a careers adviser (from a school, college or uni near your home or workplace)
3 To and fro by email with them to fix a good date and time
4 Go in and speak.
Here's a Speaker's Guide with a few useful tips.
Encourage your colleagues and friends to volunteer to register to speak about their jobs as well. Visit the Oriel Volunteering Portal and you'll find useful FAQs, too.
